Glen Leven Farm
Nashville, TN
2020 - Ongoing
NBW’s work at Glen Leven began with a Cultural Landscape Synthesis, surfacing the site’s multigenerational stories through archival research, oral histories, and place-based inquiry. This 64-acre landscape outside Nashville holds deep layers of ecological and cultural memory, from Indigenous land use to a pre–Civil War plantation, to the Civil War itself, where formerly enslaved soldiers from the site joined the US Colored Troops. Building on this foundation, the Comprehensive Landscape Plan envisions pathways for education, events, and interpretation, making visible the narratives of land, labor, stewardship, and resilience that connect the community to its living history.
