John Ridenour, PLA, LEED AP

Associate Principal

John Ridenour is a registered landscape architect and LEED accredited professional with over fifteen years of professional experience. A veteran team leader, John has led planning and design implementation for numerous public parks, campuses, and urban landscapes. 

His experience includes leading the vision plan and design implementation for Lakeshore Park, a 185-acre park along the Tennessee River in Knoxville, TN, as well as Karen Cragnolin Park in Asheville, NC, and Beaverdam Reservoir Park in Ashburn, VA. He also helped lead the 6-acre on-structure plaza and streetscapes at Hudson Yards on the west side of Manhattan, led construction administration of the award-winning Greenway Botanical Garden at the Naval Cemetery in Brooklyn, and managed design and construction of numerous projects at Overlook Farm, a historic Olmsted Brothers estate near Dalton, Pennsylvania. He excels in leading multi-disciplinary design teams.

Prior to joining NBW in 2013, John worked at Ken Smith Workshop in New York as project manager of the multi-phase East River Waterfront Development, coordinating teams of consultants, city agencies, and community groups. He began his career at Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architects in Chicago, where he managed the design and construction of SandRidge Corporate Campus in Oklahoma City, OK, the Nathan Phillips Square revitalization in Toronto, the Kenan Stadium Masterplan at UNC Chapel Hill, and multiple green roofs. John received his Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and his Bachelor of Arts in Landscape Architecture from Ball State University.
