Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival

Garrison, NY
(2020-ongoing)

The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) is moving to a permanent home about two miles south of its longtime residence at Boscobel House and Gardens in thanks to a generous donation of land from a patron. Nelson Byrd Woltz is leading the comprehensive landscape planning efforts for the new HVSF campus, working in collaboration with Studio Gang and Fischer Dachs.

The comprehensive landscape plan forms the basis for near and long-term work on the site, focusing on creating an experience and campus that celebrates the ties between theater and landscape. From siting the tent to capitalize on stunning views of the Wey-Gat, to developing an immersive arrival procession to the picnic lawns, as well as visioning the future growth of the campus into a year-round hub of theater activity, Nelson Byrd Woltz has worked closely with HVSF to set a solid base for the company’s future at its new home.

Work on the comprehensive landscape plan has recently been completed and the team is embarking on the first phase of implementation.
