John Tatro joined Nelson Byrd Woltz in 2023. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Landscape Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley in 2019, where he received the Honor Award for Undergraduate Achievement from the American Society of Landscape Architects. During his time at UC Berkeley, John interned with John Northmore Roberts & Associates in Berkeley, volunteered at the San Francisco Botanical Gardens, and spent summers completing several residential landscape designs with StudioK8 in Venice Beach, Los Angeles.

Prior to joining NBW, John worked with WRT in San Francisco and contributed to a range of projects throughout California, including public parks, plazas, streetscapes, campuses, and transit-oriented developments. He was heavily involved in online or in-person engagement processes, which informed the designs and programmatic elements. John is interested in creating community-informed, universally accessible designs that strengthen the connection between people and their surrounding environment.
