Katie joined Nelson Byrd Woltz in 2019. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia in 2008 where she spent her final year working with Studio ReCover to design, build, and fund a primary school in Gita, Uganda. After graduation, Katie worked in the field of landscape architecture and urban planning in Charleston, SC where she gained experience in the public realm designing large scale park and urban restoration projects, and in the private sector working within ecologically sensitive coastal zones in the Lowcountry.
Katie has also worked as an animator and designer for Igor + Valentine where she served as Head of Production for films created for clients such as Mercedes-Benz, The Parker Foundation, UNESCO and The Girl Effect. She continues to approach each project with an eye towards storytelling and the importance of narrative in the creation of space.
Recent work at NBW includes Beaverdam Reservoir Park, Loudon County VA, the Contemplative Sciences Center at UVA, Memorial Park in Houston, Millridge Park and Ravenwood Park, both in Nashville, and Lakeshore Park in Knoxville, TN.
